Each scarf starts out as a blank piece of silk. I trace the design on the silk with melted wax (used as a resist) and paint it with special silk colors to create a one-of-a-kind textile. A digital image of the original silk painting is then printed on the best quality silk Twill. The Twill is a soft, dense fabric, yet lightweight and perfect for any season.

THE STORY BEHIND

My inspiration for this scarf is a beautiful gouache painting by Queen Marie of Romania from the manuscript she created in 1906 for her husband, King Ferdinand I. The stylized cross is a prevailing symbol in Queen Marie’s paintings, evoking memories of revival and faith. Caltha palustrisCaltha palustris, known as marsh-marigold or kingcup flowers inspire the euphoria of the spring rebirth. This wildflower was also used in celebrating The Virgin Mary at Easter.

EUPHORIA scarf is part of “Queen Marie’s Manuscript” collection. This collection is an homage to Queen Marie of Romania. A symbol of elegance and strength, Queen Marie dedicated her life to democracy and social justice. But she was also a romantic, creative and passionate woman. Wearing this scarf is a beautiful way to carry on the story of this beloved and inspiring leader!
